Mr Murtuza Mookhtiar

Mr Mookhtiar offers advanced cataract surgery using the latest premium intraocular lenses, including Tri-Focal (diffractive) and toric lenses to reduce dependence on glasses. He provides a personalised approach, carefully tailoring lens choice to each patient's lifestyle and visual goals, with a strong focus on achieving the best possible visual outcomes. As a lead vitreoretinal surgeon, he has extensive expertise in managing urgent and complex retinal conditions, including retinal detachment, macular holes, and epiretinal membranes, and offers rapid access to specialist retinal assessment and surgery at The Eye Doctor Clinic.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Mookhtiar is actively involved in research and is a named investigator in national and international studies, including work on new treatments for retinal disease such as gene therapy. He plays an integral role in the Bradford Ophthalmology Research Network (BORN), contributing to the advancement of patient care. He is also the undergraduate lead for ophthalmology, teaching medical students and mentoring junior doctors and surgeons.

Mr Mookhtiar has previously served on the Council and the Professional Standards Committee of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
