Read About Our Happy Patients

I saw Professor Jeeva today for a consultation regarding lower blephoroplasty. I was made very welcome and put at ease. The procedure was explained to me and I was encouraged to ask as many questions I wanted. I wasn't made to feel rushed or pressured into anything and left feeling that if I do decide to proceed I will be in safe hands.

Alison Smith

My mum Maureen Astles had a Zoom consultation with Mr Jeeva this morning. What a lovely surgeon he was helpful informative and such a nice smile putting her totally at ease. She is now looking forward to meeting him in person for surgery as she knows she will be in the best hands for a successful outcome.

Catherine Astles

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr Jeeva, my surgeon and all the doctors and staff at the centre. The care I received from start to finish was exceptional. I felt at ease and was reassured throughout the procedure, feeling safe the entire time. I cannot thank you enough and will definitely be recommending your services to family and friends.

What Is Entropion Surgery?

Entropion surgery is an advanced procedure used to correct entropion, an eye condition where the lower eyelid turns inwards and eyelashes rub into the eye causing irritation.

This surgery addresses symptoms of entropion, such as watering, redness, pain, a sandy feeling in the eye, and decreased vision.

Entropion Surgery at a Glance

  • Treatment Time: 1–2 Hours
  • Anaesthesia: Local anaesthetic injection with sedation or general anaesthesia
  • Recovery Time: 1–2 weeks
  • Pain: Mild
  • Sessions Required: Minimum 1
  • Cost: Contact us

Why Choose Entropion Surgery?

Long-Lasting Results

Entropion surgery can provide natural-looking, long-lasting results, often improving the appearance of the eyes for 7–10 years.

Minimally Invasive

Compared to traditional surgeries, entropion surgery can be performed using minimally invasive techniques, reducing recovery time and discomfort.

Suitable for Most

It can be safely performed on most healthy individuals with minimal risk of complications. A consultation with a qualified surgeon is recommended to confirm suitability.

Why Should You Consider Entropion Surgery?

You may consider entropion surgery to correct the eyelid's position and address its signs and symptoms. They include:

Inward turning of eyelid
Eyelashes rubbing into the eye more than usual
Watery eyes
Sore and irritated eyeball
Creamy discharge from the eye
Redness
Sensitivity to light
Sandy or gritty feeling in the eyes
Decreased vision

A clinical assessment will confirm whether entropion surgery is the most appropriate treatment for your specific presentation.

What to Expect

Entropion surgery is a carefully planned day-case procedure to restore the correct position of your eyelid and protect your eye health.

Initial Consultation
Booking a Consultation

The first step is to schedule a consultation with Mr Jeeva, one of our experienced Consultant Plastic Surgeons.

Scheduling Surgery

Given the lead time for surgery, many patients book their surgery slots at the same time as their consultation.

Consultation Details
Assessment

During your consultation, Mr Jeeva will thoroughly assess your eyelid's condition and discuss the results you hope to achieve.

Suitability

Not everyone is suitable for the procedure. Mr Jeeva will provide an honest assessment.

Eligibility Rate

On average, 73% of our patients are suitable for the procedure. The remaining 27% are not, and we will not proceed if we believe the results won't meet your expectations.

The Procedure
Preparation

Before the surgery, the patient is given local anaesthesia to numb the area around the eye to ensure comfort. In some cases, general anaesthesia may be preferred.

Incision

A small incision is made at the outer corner of the lower eyelid. This allows access to the tissues that need to be adjusted.

Positioning the Eyelid

The eyelid is then brought back to its normal position either by removing some tissue or using a skin graft.

Bandaging

The eye may be covered with a bandage to protect it during the initial healing period.

The Techniques
Horizontal Tightening

This technique involves creating and stitching a strip from the eyelid to surrounding eye socket tissue.

Everting / Rotational Sutures

A quick office procedure that involves the use of stitches to tighten the loose eyelid.

Retractor Reinsertion

During this procedure, eyelid muscles are tightened to correct the inward folding.

Post-Procedure Care
Same-Day Discharge

Patients can go home on the same day as the surgery.

After surgery you can expect mild:
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Tightness around the eyelid

All of these usually subside within a week or two after surgery.

Take care by:
  • Wearing an eye patch for 24 hours post surgery
  • Applying prescribed ointments
  • Icing the area
  • Following the aftercare tips by Mr Jeeva
Risks and Complications

All surgeries carry risks, including cosmetic procedures. There is a very small risk of complications, such as infection, scarring, and blurry/double vision in rare cases.

These risks, along with all aspects of the surgery and its costs, will be discussed during your consultation.

Post-Surgery Follow-Up

After your surgery, you'll receive detailed aftercare instructions and will have a follow-up appointment about 7 days later to assess healing and remove sutures.

Day-case procedure with fast recovery

Entropion Surgery FAQs

Entropion is an eye condition where the lower eyelid turns inwards, letting the eyelashes rub into the eyeball leading to a sandy feeling in the eye, redness, mucous discharge and vision difficulties.

Entropion surgery corrects the inward rolling of the eyelid and relieves symptoms like irritation, redness, and difficulty in vision.

Symptoms subside gradually. However, healing may take 1–2 weeks, and proper recovery may take months.

Entropion surgery is usually non-painful as local or general anaesthesia is given during the treatment. However, a few patients report mild discomfort after the surgery and relief from pain and discomfort caused by entropion itself.

Entropion surgery is an outpatient procedure performed under local or general anaesthesia. Depending on the type of surgery, the tissue may be tightened or fixed with a skin graft to its normal position.
